I first discovered Reiki (ray-kee) when I was in massage school. A huge skeptic, all I knew it was some kind of “energy work.” Sounded strange.
Without much explanation, two of my classmates offered to give me a treatment. Having a sore shoulder and feeling a bit down, I figured “why not? I’ve got nothing to lose.”
By the end of the treatment I was thinking “where have you been all my life?!” My shoulder pain was gone and I felt euphoric. The best part? I felt that way for the next few days and the shoulder pain didn’t come back. I was hooked.
So how does it work? Well, everything is made of energy (you probably knew that already :) our bodies included. When our energy becomes blocked or low, it can affect us on all levels emotional, physical and spiritual. Reiki restores that vital energy (also known as ki, chi & prana), removes blockages, & promotes healing.
Super relaxing, you lay on a comfy massage table while the therapist gently places their hands on different parts of the body. You may feel a warm sensation as if heat is coming from the therapists hands, that’s normal.
It’s best to wear loose, comfortable clothing.
